About the Camp
Located approximately 40 miles south of the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex, seated on 1,200 acres of Texas pasture land; The Salvation Army Camp Hoblitzelle is a traditional summer camp program providing the rich experience of camping in the context of a Christian community. Hundreds of boys and girls, ages 7 to 16 come to Camp Hoblitzelle each summer, most in one week increments, to play together, learn from each other, and grow in their relationships with Christ and others. Campers live in cabins with kids in their same school grade and participate in a broad range of camp activities, from athletics to arts and everything in between. Camp Hoblitzelle seeks to nurture physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually under the guidance and direction of college-age counselors who have been selected on the basis of their ability to lead, love, guide, and care for campers.
Why Summer at Camp Hoblitzelle?
The Hoblitzelle camping program is designed to meet the specific needs of each population group it serves.
We provide children an opportunity to be in a positive environment for the summer to grow, learn, and be encouraged while striving to meet their spiritual, social, recreational and educational needs as appropriate.
Each Camper will:
Be challenged to explore, grow in, and act on his/her Christian faith through daily prayer, participation in age appropriate Bible studies, participation in worship experiences (such as morning devotions, evening vespers, praise and worship services) and other teachable moments.
Explore and experience what it means to live in a Christ-centered community by experiencing an emotionally and physically safe environment, participation in the daily decision making process, engagement in team building activities, and affirmation in the Christ-like gifts of others and be affirmed for his/her gifts.
Learn to appreciate and care for God's creation through taking part in nature awareness/education opportunities, participation in Bible studies relating to taking responsibility for the environment, visiting and working in the camp nature center, and craft projects.
Practice and be taught servant leadership and explore how to develop positive leadership traits by taking responsibility for keeping his/her living area clean, taking part in opportunities to serve, participation in Bible studies relating to leadership and service, and taking part in leadership opportunities.
Coleman County has 7 slots we can fill with children that are from low income families who cannot afford the cost of summer camps and/or child who need some time away form home due to variety of reasons due to neglect, substance abuse, recent divorce, or loss of parent, along with other life changing events.
Campers are boys and girls ages 10-12. Deadline to complete application is June 19th.
Camp will be June 29th - July 4th. Campers will leave Brownwood Salvation Army Service Center by 8:30 am on Monday June 29th and will arrive back at the Center by 12 noon - 1:00 pm on Saturday July 4th. Please see the necessary forms below if your child is interested in attending.
